Native Plants for Containers

When:
Saturday, November 2, 2024
Where:

Berkshire Botanical Garden

Come learn about native plants for containers on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 1 to 3 p.m. The beauty of using native plants in containers is that they are adapted to local growing conditions. From short to tall, sun to shade, spring through fall, Duncan Himmelman will demonstrate plenty of possibilities for creating a small, wildlife-friendly oasis on a balcony, patio, or porch. Leave with a list of container-friendly native plants suited to your area.

Duncan Himmelman earned his doctorate at Cornell University and taught horticultural science at the college level for 24 years. He recently retired as the education manager at Mt. Cuba Center, a public garden in Delaware devoted to native plant advocacy. He enjoys teaching, designing landscapes and promoting ecologically-focused gardening practices.
