Have you ever wanted to use colored pencils for botanicals but are not sure how?

In this art class colored-pencil artist Carol Ann Morley will give you a great start and show you multiple ways to work with this fun and versatile medium. You will learn the art of color mixing and how to control your color choices to achieve harmony, depth and contrast. Gain an understanding of pencil techniques such as layering for blending smooth colors and ways to produce textures and patterns using sgraffito, impressed line, and burnishing to make different surfaces for petals, leaves, bark and more. Students of all levels are welcome to this colorful adventure. Class runs Thursday, May 25, through Saturday, May 27, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Carol Ann Morley is an illustrator and dedicated teacher of botanical illustration working in Milton, N.H. She founded the Botanical Art Illustration Certificate Program at the New York Botanical Garden and teaches illustration there and at other major botanical gardens.
