Botanically Dyed Holiday Gifts

When:
Saturday, December 4, 2021
Where:

Berkshire Botanical Garden

This class has been cancelled.

Come create a unique holiday gift using plant dyes and natural fibers! In this one-day workshop participants will learn about various techniques and applications that can be used with botanical dyes (from tie dye to block printing) as well as how to make a dye vat from locally harvested plants. We will see examples of these techniques and then experiment with one as we design and execute our own textile pieces --think bandanas, napkins or tea towels -- that can be taken home as an extra special holiday gift for a loved one, or kept as a gift to yourself!

Nicole Campanale began her training in art and gardening over 10 years ago. She received a BFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, where she studied weaving and natural dyeing. Gardening was a summer job that turned into an enduring love of plants. Over the past 10 years Nicole has taught natural dyeing and other fibers classes in local schools and children's programs. She has worked with several of the area’s most accomplished gardeners in public and private gardens and continues to work locally as a gardener and garden designer. She has a studio in New Marlborough where she grows dye plants and designs and creates textile goods using natural dyes.
