An Evening with Dierdre Heekin of La Garagista Farm + Winery (Vermont). What if hybrids were farmed as carefully and conscientiously as the finest vinifera grapes in a historical vineyard? And what if those grapes were lovingly and naturally handled in the cellar, with no additions or subtractions, to bring out their best expressions? Though it’s not exactly her intention, Dierdre Heekin and her La Garagista wines demonstrate that wines made of hybrid grapes can not only be deliciously satisfying but can also show a sense of place.
Join us on Friday March 17 for an evening celebrating food and wine with special guest, Dierdre Heekin ; winegrower, organizer, writer, photographer, flower farmer, and self-proclaimed would-be designer, of La Garagista Farm + Winery, based in Central Vermont.
Through a 4 course pairing menu, we will taste through La Garagista's soulful and delicious wines, wines that challenge crucial assumptions long taken for granted in regards to the hybrid grape varietals that make up the core of these alpine wine offerings.
We will dive deep into the world of hybrid grapes, and how those hardy varietals stand up to ...and thrive, in Vermont’s elements.
